Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the only superstar to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and become an international icon of pop culture. Swift let go of the influences from her country music like they were an extra layer of skin. She revealed that she was one of the best singers/songwriters of the generation she was born into. Swift could make the occasion personal, or use it to her advantage. The evidence was clear in her early songs, particularly with regard to the neo tribute of Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008), Swift showcased a writer getting to know her. The album ended up with a lot of legs not only on the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world, with a particular success with Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. The Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago was a continuation of her earlier popularity and launched Swift into the spotlight. The singer's popularity increased through the three albums that followed - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within a genre where she belonged. However, even when she reduced her style with the 2020's stripped-down siblings' folklore and Evermore she continued to be atop of the pop world a position she maintained with re-recordings of her older catalogs as well as Midnights which was her top-charting synthesizer 2022 set.
