Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, comments and an analysis of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are represented in the popular culture. Alongside working to bring awareness to sexual harassment and assaults on women and others of minority groups in the online world, she is determined to break down the stigmas and stereotypes associated with popular culture. Sarkeesian, who has a Master's in the field of Social and Political Thought from York University, is a well-known public speaking. She has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. From an early age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thought. As a student, in 2009, she launched her Feminist Frequency website. As of 2009, this ambitious young lady was harassed by the Internet for starting a web series on gender in videogames. However the attack could have been a hindrance, rather it only strengthened her resolve to be a feminist media critic. She is a recipient of numerous awards for her contribution to feministism. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a media critic. She was also the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit group that focuses on pop-culture depictions of women.
